31 Students shortlisted by Indian Army in Campus Drive at APIIT SD INDIA


One more feather has been added in the cap of APIITians’ on the auspicious day of Saturday, 24 September 2011; it is one-another yardstick set up by the students of APIIT SD INDIA, Panipat. The Indian Army conducted preliminary interviews at APIIT SD INDIA, Panipat. Students of various engineering disciplines, including software, computing and multimedia participated in the programme.
A team from the Indian Army HQ2 Corps.  comprising of Colonel  M. Nijhawan, Colonel M. L.   Gandotra, Colonel  Srabjeet Singh  arrived at the campus to begin the one-day procedure for placement drive. Final year students of all engineering streams appeared before the selection team. After rounds of group discussions and personal interviews,  31 students were short-listed.

These students will be called to appear before the SSB. After qualifying the SSB interview, they are likely to join Indian Army as Commissioned Officers. The final year students are likely to join the Indian Military Academy in July 2012
During the training period, the candidates will be given a stipend of Rs. 21,000 per month as pay in pay band plus grade pay Rs. 5,400. On completion of the training, the officers are commissioned as Lt. and entitled  to the pay band of Rs. 15,600-Rs. 39,000 + DA along with other benefits like furnished accommodation and free medical facilities etc.
On this drive, Prof. (Dr.) R. K. Choudhary, Director, APIIT SD INDIA said, "After having a number of successful recruitment drives at the campus for more than 139 students suitably placed hitherto, this recruitment drive for the Army is a special one, obviously, it is going to provide better avenues for the youth, as Indian Army is one  of the  leading Armies of the world".
